Job Description

As a Boiler Mechanic you'll spend ~20% of your time on stick welding, with the rest split across mechanical systems, piping, pump work, heat exchanger installs, and full pressure vessel repair — real variety, real responsibility across a diverse book of industrial and commercial customers.

Responsibilities

  • Use torch proficiently for cutting, heating, and fitting preparation
Heat exchangers & pressure vessels

  • Perform full pressure vessel repairs including shell patch welding, nozzle replacement, refractory removal and replacement, and re-certification support.

Preventive maintenance

  • Open, inspect, and close boilers and pressure vessels per PM schedule; document findings and condition of internal components with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Re-gasket flanges, manholes, handholes, and access covers using correct gasket materials and torque specifications.
  • Perform burner service and safety-valve testing as part of scheduled PM visits.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks including lubrication, hardware replacement, and minor repairs to keep equipment in reliable operating condition.

  • Install, align, and service pumps and associated mechanical equipment; perform packing, seal, and coupling replacements.
  • Size pipe, valves, and system components to meet design specifications.
  • Perform minor rigging during equipment installation — including lifting, positioning, and securing boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, and vessels using appropriate rigging hardware and practices.
  • Complete work orders, daily activity reports, and as-built documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Work overtime and weekends as necessary; respond to emergency service calls.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Service Manager.
